The 32,000-sq. ft. clubhouse at the Plymouth, Mich., property was closed for two months to make $750,000 in updates, including a new fireplace, furniture, flooring, and chandeliers, and an expanded bar menu to “capitalize on the bourbon boom.”
The banquet hall at The Golden Fox course at Fox Hills Golf & Banquet Center in Plymouth, Mich., has been completely remodeled for the first time in more than two decades, Michigan Live reported.
The clubhouse has been closed for two months as everything from the dance floor to the furniture and bar has been updated, Live reported.
“Pretty much everything cosmetic was updated completely. We’re in the midst of updating the whole back bar,” said Alexis O’Brien, the property’s marketing specialist. “We’ll be adding a full line of bourbon, scotch, cigars, all that stuff for the golfers to take part in.”
The 32,000-sq. ft. clubhouse is used not only for golfers, but for weddings, corporate events, charity events and Sunday brunch. O’Brien said the total investment in the remodel was in the neighborhood of $750,000, Live reported.
The entrance to the facility features a brand new fireplace, new furniture, flooring and a black and white color scheme that is noticeably different to people who’ve been to the clubhouse before. Once inside The Sunset Ballroom, a brand new set of chandeliers immediately catches your eye along with the new dance floor and view of the golf course, Live reported.
The room can host up to 500 people for an event and packages can be booked to fit the needs of any party size, said Julia Grelak, director of sales and marketing.
As interest in bourbon rises, the golf course is looking to capitalize on the boom as it will feature an extensive list of whiskey, scotch and bourbon brands, Live reported.
“There won’t be anything between Ann Arbor and Detroit that will have the selection that we’ll have here,” said director of operations Jeff O’Brien. “It’s something that we’ve wanted to do for a while but we really didn’t have the space.”
Along with the drink menu, the bar will offer 20 cigars that can be paired with the spirits as well as eight beers on tap. Some of the beers will be rotated throughout the year, while Guinness and other beers will be permanent fixtures, Live reported.
While the front of the house received a facelift, so did the kitchen, which now has designated areas for the different cooks instead of just one large open space. New floors have also been installed in the kitchen. Executive chef Mark Martell said the menu is also refocused to make sure each dish gets more individual attention, Live reported.
“There’s a huge focus on individuality. We’re trying to move away from the old school buffet look and trying to have more personalized attention,” Martell said. “It’s definitely more work for us, but at the same time it’s a challenge.”
On the golf side, Fox Hills is also preparing for the opening of its brand new learning center. The 6,900 square-foot facility will have six bays designated for teaching golfers. A Putting Studio, reception area and multi-purpose room for educational purposes and a massage room will also be available for active golfers and rehabilitation of injured players, Live reported.
