The Country Club of North Carolina Foundation presented grants of $210,800 to charitable organizations in Western North Carolina as they aid those devastated by the effects of Hurricane Helene throughout the region.
An immediate grant of $100,000 was given to Samaritan’s Purse Hurricane Helene Relief Fund, The Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Services Fund for Western North Carolina, and the Community Foundation of Western North Carolina (CFWNC) Emergency Disaster Fund. These three organizations are doing important hands-on work in the region, and the CCNC Foundation selected them to touch as many lives as possible.
“The contribution will support Hurricane Helene relief and recovery in 18 counties of Western North Carolina including the Qualla Boundary. The Fund will make grants to frontline nonprofits providing critical services,” said Elizabeth Brazas, President of the Community Foundation of Western North Carolina.
With an offer to match dollar for dollar any additional donations, the CCNC Foundation was pleased to match its donors’ gifts totaling $55,400 for an additional grant of $110,800 to go to the impacted region. Four additional organizations were chosen after careful consideration who are in dire need as colder weather approaches. Those agencies are the Asheville Humane Society, Manna Food Bank of Western North Carolina, Hospitality House North Carolina, and Hunger and Health Coalition. These endowments from the CCNC Foundation and its donors will provide immediate impact and support the Foundation’s mission of community outreach not only locally, but also to fellow North Carolinians in times of need.
The CCNC Foundation is grateful to all who generously supported this mission to help those devastated by Hurricane Helene. These seven organizations were carefully selected not only because their values align with those of the CCNC Foundation, but also because of the important work they are doing in Western North Carolina. The Foundation pledges to continue helping those in time of need and is thankful for the incredible generosity of its donors.
