Sandridge Golf Club in Indian River County, Fla., is moving forward with construction of a new $11.2 million clubhouse. The County Commission voted unanimously on April 8 to award the construction contract to Quest Contracting of West Palm Beach, marking a major step forward after more than a year of delays due to high initial bids.
The current clubhouse, built in 1992, no longer meets the needs of the increasingly popular 36-hole public course. With a growing number of tournaments and events, the existing structure—primarily a snack bar with limited indoor space—has become insufficient.
The new facility will feature a 1,500-sq.-ft. pro shop complete with storage space, addressing a current lack of a dedicated stock room. It will also include an 80-guest restaurant with a full bar, a 200-person banquet hall with a reception area, a catering kitchen, and upgraded meeting and office areas.
Sandridge Golf Club hosts more than 43 tournaments annually, including events from the American Junior Golf Association, South Florida PGA, Minor League Tour, and Division 1 women’s college programs. The club supports numerous leagues across different formats and was recently ranked the No. 10 public course. It is also recognized as an Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary.
In the 2023-2024 season alone, the club logged 129,000 rounds of golf and generated more than $5 million in revenue, continuing a steady upward trend since 2019. Sandridge operates without public subsidies, relying solely on its own earnings.
Initially, the county had budgeted $5 million for the project, but early 2024 bids came in closer to $15 million. To bring costs down, county officials revised the plan and incorporated cost-saving measures, including the use of reclaimed water from local sources for the fire-suppression system. This adjustment, along with other strategic changes, allowed the project to move forward at a more feasible price point.
The new clubhouse is expected to significantly enhance the overall experience for golfers and event participants, aligning the facilities with the high standards of the course itself.
