Firestone Country Club in Akron, Ohio unveiled updates made throughout the club that include the renovation of its on-site accommodations and the addition of a new upscale Italian dining experience, fitness facility and an on-course halfway house.
The lodging enhancements to Firestone’s club rooms include king-size bedding upgrades and lavatories in select rooms, and updated bath amenities added to each room. Enriching the villa stay, each room now features nostalgic artwork connecting guests with the golf greats who have walked Firestone’s fairways. The villa rooms also now offer king-size bedding and bath upgrades.
Stay-and-play guests can also take advantage of the club’s custom villa stocking amenity, which offers personalized food and beverage items in the common room prior to their arrival. Adding to the guest experience, Firestone offers Room Dash, an in-room dining service for breakfast, lunch, dinner and late-night meals. Once ordered, the menu items will be prepared in recycled packaging and delivered directly to guest rooms.
Inside the clubhouse, a new Italian chophouse restaurant, La Vetta, is now open and pairs exquisite cuts of meat with fine wines and spirits for an elegant dining experience. Perfected by executive chef Tyson Podolski, the La Vetta menu also offers pasta, chicken and seafood entrees perfect for any discerning palate.
The clubhouse enhancements also include a new fitness center, which is located near the men’s locker room. Encompassing nearly 1,000 sq. ft., the fitness center features weights, machines and state-of-the-art equipment include Technogym LIVE stations, a digital user interface offering engaging on-demand training video content on Technogym’s equipment consoles.
Situated near the eighth on the Fazio Course and seventh and 12th holes on the South Course, a halfway house was constructed to provide members and guests various menu items and drinks to enjoy on the course.

Since the 1950s, the club and its famed South Course has annually hosted the biggest names in professional golf. In addition to being site of three PGA Championships, Firestone was the long-time venue for the PGA TOUR’s World Golf Championships-Bridgestone Invitational and its predecessor, the World Series of Golf. It currently hosts the Bridgestone SENIOR PLAYERS Championship on the Champions Tour.
The North Course is a Robert Trent Jones design that opened for member play in 1969. Marked by numerous lakes and streams, the North Course has played host to both the American Golf Classic and World Series of Golf.
Formerly known as the West Course, the Fazio Course is a links-style design boasting views of the club and surrounding landscape. The Fazio Course recently completed a bunker enhancement project that included removing 18 bunkers and renovating the remaining 51.
Non-members of Firestone can reserve a limited number of stay-and-play packages during the golf season and experience the club’s celebrated offerings. Later this fall, the Firestone golf experience will include BigShots Golf Firestone, a 22,500‐sq.‐ft. golf, dining and entertainment venue that will operate year-round and include a two-story tee-line with 44 interactive tee boxes. Situated alongside Raymond C. Firestone Public 9 Golf Course, BigShots Golf Firestone will be open to the public.
