The Middleton, Mass., property has launched a $5 million clubhouse expansion that includes new locker rooms, a party room that accommodates more than 200 guests, and an open-air roof deck lounge. Construction is expected by be complete by spring 2016.
Ferncroft Country Club, home to a Robert Trent Jones Sr. golf course in Middleton, Mass., has launched a $5 million clubhouse expansion including new men’s and women’s locker rooms on the first floor, a 200+person capacity party room on the second floor, and an open-air roof deck lounge that will overlook the scenic 18th hole.
The expansion is expected to bring significant incremental economic activity to the area and generate 24 new jobs including several management positions.
“We have followed a path of steady improvement since purchasing Ferncroft in 2006,” says Damon DeVito, managing director of Affinity Management, which owns Ferncroft CC. “We have needed new locker rooms and we have more inquiries for weddings and parties than we can accommodate so we will make good use of the event space. To be prudent we delayed this after the economic downturn, but we’re very excited to be underway now. It will be a game changer for members.”
This effort follows 14 previous capital improvement projects under Affinity. Those total over $3 million. Ferncroft members are not assessed for capital improvements. When complete, the enlarged and enhanced clubhouse will add to Ferncroft’s other full service amenities, which include eight tennis courts – four clay and four hard, swimming pool, fitness center, restaurants, private rooms, championship golf course, executive golf course and short game practice area. Ferncroft was also the first country club in the US to implement a Zero Food Waste Initiative using an innovative Japanese fermentation process called Bokashi.
Construction has begun and is expected to be completed by spring 2016. Boston based Metric Corp is the general contractor and the architect is Robert Del Savio, Principal of Embarc Studio.
