Patriot Golf Day is the annual flagship fundraiser for the Folds of Honor Foundation, providing postsecondary educational scholarships for the children and spouses of military men and women disabled or killed while serving.
The Fallen Heroes Foundation probably puts it best when it says that Patriot Golf Day is as much a call to action in our time as war bonds and rationing were in times past.
The staffs of Bayonet at Puppy Creek and Cypress Lakes, both in Fayetteville, N.C., couldn’t agree more, which is why they’re again participating in this year’s event.
Patriot Golf Day is the annual flagship fundraiser for the Folds of Honor Foundation, providing postsecondary educational scholarships for the children and spouses of military men and women disabled or killed while serving. During Labor Day weekend (September 2-5), golfers across the country are asked to add an extra dollar to their greens fees to fund Folds of Honor scholarships.
The Patriot Golf Day campaign is jointly supported by The PGA of America and the United States Golf Association.
Of course, as proud home of the 82nd Airborne and America’s first name in defense, Fayetteville is truly a city that knows what it means to be ready at a moment’s notice, which is why many of Fayetteville’s finest area golf courses that previously joined ranks with the city’s “Golf – On the Ready” promotion have re-enlisted to support Patriot Golf Day 2011.
Bayonet Golf Club at Puppy Creek will be collecting donations over the four days of the campaign. With five sets of tees, this championship course has been created for golfers of all skill levels. Bayonet also offers the region’s largest practice area, including a 20-acre golf practice facility featuring 10 target greens and a short-game area.
Cypress Lakes Golf Club will also take special collections and conduct closest-to-the-pin contests. In addition, on the Saturday following Thanksgiving, Cypress Lakes will hold its annual golf tournament to raise additional funds for this worthy cause.
