Planned for the weekend of the Alabama-LSU showdown, the event will include a barbecue seminar and supper served during the game.
FarmLinks Golf Club at Pursell Farms in Sylacauga, Ala., which features the world’s only agronomic research and demonstration golf course, has announced plans to hold the “ultimate Pork & Pigskins tailgating extravaganza” on Saturday, November 5, to coincide with the Southeastern Conference college football showdown between Alabama and LSU.
The event, priced at $99, will combine a viewing of one of the biggest games on the 2011 college schedule with an outstanding barbecue, along with a seminar conducted by Scott Jones, former Executive Food Editor of Southern Living magazine.
“Pork & Pigskins is a way to bring diehard fans of SEC football and world-class barbecue together in a beautiful setting and enjoy what promises to be a great game and fantastic event,” said Erle Fairly, President of FarmLinks.
The event will begin at 12 p.m. Central Standard Time, with all participants receiving a bottle of their own signature barbecue rub after creating it using a variety of salts, sugars, spices and heat sources. The Alabama-LSU game will then be shown while a barbecue supper is served, along with snacks and beverages.
Guests can make an entire weekend of the Pork & Pigskin event by playing golf on the state’s No.-1-ranked public course, going fishing or trying their hand at the 5-stand clay shooting range at FarmLinks. Overnight accommodations are also available in FarmLinks’ luxury cottages or cabins.
Space is limited for the Pork & Pigskins event, so reservations are encouraged, by calling 205.403.4653.
FarmLinks at Pursell Farms also announced that it has launched a new website at www.farmlinks.org. The completely revamped site provides more detailed information about the award-winning resort destination’s services and amenities and also features spectacular photography, expanded content and an easy-to-navigate design, with completely new drop-down menus and navigational tools.
The updated site also allows FarmLinks to delve deeper into social media by linking visitors directly to Facebook, Twitter and YouTube pages, which will aid in disseminating information quickly and efficiently, while keeping up with the latest technologies and innovations.
“The purpose of our website’s new look and feel is to offer viewers an engaging, interactive and informative site with all of the important details about FarmLinks’ activities and amenities—from offering educational programs for golf course superintendents and hosting corporate meetings and events, to hunting deer, duck and quail or planning weddings at the Farm,” said Tim Spanjer, FarmLinks’ Director of Marketing.
