To replace its aging pool facility, the Chatham, N.J. club developed a master plan to design and build a new, two-story, 10,000-sq. ft. building that supports a variety of multi-seasonal club sports and programs, and also includes a variety of new dining options. A new resort-style kiosk has also been erected at the pool entrance.
Recognizing that its aging pool facility was in need of replacement, the club leadership and management of Fairmount Country Club in Chatham, N.J. has created a new pool and racquets destination to serve its changing member demographic.
With membership becoming younger and more family-oriented, a new pool was a top priority. In addition, four new paddle courts were added, to expand other seasonal activities at the club.
Working alongside Studio JBD and Jefferson Group Architecture, the club developed a master plan to design and build a brand-new, two-story, 10,000-sq ft. building to support a variety of multi-seasonal club sports and programs.
Strategically built between the member pool complex and paddle courts, the building’s main floor supports both operations with a variety of new dining options, including a casual bar, indoor dining, and outdoor dining, with the option to sit on a raised 2,500-sq. ft. patio overlooking the pool. The main floor also hosts new member locker rooms.
The second floor contains Fairmount CC’s new fitness center, community space, and cutting-edge golf simulators. With the food-and-beverage support in the same building as the fitness center and golf simulators, members can now enjoy a full complementof services as part of creating the ultimate multi-seasonal sports support building.
The completed and approved master plan also called for a new pool-entrance kiosk. Now standing at the pool entrance is a resort-style structure that welcomes members and provides security for the area.
Improvements to the pool and surrounding areas have enhanced the experience for family members of all ages. Complete with a kids splash pad and an oversized, gradual zero-entry pool entrance, all Fairmount CC members now have multiple options for summer enjoyment.
“Our team is honored to have been given the opportunity to listen and create a design plan to adapt and meet the young, vibrant and diverse membership’s needs and expectations,” said Mark Palazio, Senior Project Manager for Studio JBD and Jefferson Group Architecture. “Fairmount Country Club’s transformative project is a testimate to the club and the entire membership, and will help pave the way for clubs that follow their winning model.”
