The bolstered firm offers current and future clients an integrated suite of human capital management, operational consulting and legal advisory solutions, in addition to GSI’s core executive-placement services. The management team will be led by Robert Jones, a founding partner of Ethos and long-time General Manager/COO of the Desert Mountain Club. As part of the ownership transition, GSI senior principal Scott McNett and principals Dan Farrell, Ned Welc and Sharlyn Moore are remaining with the firm.
Ethos Club & Leisure, a real estate advisory and investment firm, acquired GSI Executive Search. The firm’s corporate headquarters will be in Dallas, Texas, and the management team will be led by president Robert Jones, a founding partner of Ethos Club & Leisure and a 30-plus year veteran of the private club and real estate development industry.
In recognition of his then-16 years as General Manager/Chief Operating Officer of Desert Mountain Club in Scottsdale, Ariz., Jones was the 2012 recipient of The James H. Brewer Award through the Excellence In Club Management Awards co-sponsored by the McMahon Group and Club + Resort Business (https://clubandresortbusiness.com/perfect-balance/). His club management career also included positions at Eldorado Country Club, the Dallas Athletic Club and the Northwood Club.
Additionally, Jay Salem will leverage 40-plus years of operations, IT and human resources experience to be the firm’s Chief Operating Officer. Dallas Addison, founding partner of Ethos Club & Leisure and partner in Addison Law, will assume a leadership role with GSI Executive Search as managing director.
As part of an ownership transition, GSI Executive Search senior principal Scott McNett, and principals Dan Farrell, Ned Welc and Sharlyn Moore are remaining with the firm, and all current searches and services are being provided to clients as contracted without interruption.
Founded more than 20 years ago, GSI Executive Search has provided an array of executive search and placement services for 500-plus private clubs, community associations, hospitality organizations and real estate developers throughout the United States. Now, as an Ethos Club & Leisure Alliance company, GSI is positioned to offer current and future clients an integrated suite of human capital management, operational consulting and legal advisory solutions in addition to the core executive placement services.
“Of all the factors that made GSI Executive Search an attractive target for inclusion in our alliance of firms, three in particular stand out, Jones said. First, its principals are highly experienced and talented professionals; each has achieved great success, and they understand private clubs inside and out. Second, the firm’s search process is the industry’s most thorough and time-tested. GSI Principals adhere to it with complete fidelity, and it delivers executive placements that stand the test of time. Third, the firm has built a very strong brand—they’ve earned the trust of hundreds of client clubs and organizations. Collectively, these and supporting assets have helped build GSI’s industry leadership—and they will serve as cornerstones for even greater success as an Ethos Club & Leisure Alliance company.”
“On behalf of my GSI Executive Search principal colleagues, we are very excited to begin this new chapter as part of the Ethos family,” McNett said. “We share a strong synergy with our Alliance partners, and we look forward to leveraging our combined expertise for the benefit of current and future clients.”
In the weeks and months ahead, Jones and his management team will focus on strengthening existing relationships in GSI Executive Search’s core markets, as well as building new relationships in currently underserved markets throughout the continental U.S. and beyond.
Together with Alliance companies Ethos Club & Leisure and Addison Law, the partnership now offers current and future clients unprecedented single-source access to top operational consulting, human capital management, legal advisory and executive placement services that otherwise would only be available through separate engagements.
Likewise, current and future job candidates will benefit from broad exposure to Ethos Club & Leisure’s large national network of private clubs and organizations. As a result, they have access to more potential opportunities through the combined networks and resources of the Ethos Alliance.
