Work on a major renovation of the golf course at the Destin, Fla., club has begun, and the course is set to reopen for play this summer. Bob Cupp, who originally designed the golf course, will lead the project, which will include enlarging greens, renovating tee boxes, adding new bunkers and water features, and enhancing practice facilities.
Work has started on a major renovation of the golf course at Emerald Bay Golf Club in Destin, Fla., Golf Course Architecture reported.
In conjunction with construction company Southeastern Golf, Bob Cupp’s firm, which originally designed the golf course, will lead the new project, Architecture reported.
The renovation will include enlarged greens, renovated tee boxes, new bunkers dotted across the course, newly built water features and enhanced practice facilities. TifEagle Ultra Dwarf bermudagrass will be introduced to provide the course’s greens with a dense surface for improved putting speed and consistency, Architecture reported.
Cupp formerly worked as a senior designer for Jack Nicklaus’ firm for more than 15 years before starting his own firm in 1984. Cupp designs include Hawks Ridge Golf Club in Atlanta, the Pecan Valley Golf Club in San Antonio and the Plantation and Landing course sat the Reynolds Plantation in Greensboro, N.C., Architecture reported.
The course is set to reopen for play this summer, Architecture reported.
