A golf tournament and gala at the Farmingdale, N.J. club raised $380,000 for the organization, whose goal is to support those who have made extraordinary sacrifices in the line of duty. “We know that freedom is not free,” says Domenic F. Gatto, Chairman and President of the club.
The directors and members of Eagle Oaks Golf & Country Club in Farmingdale, N.J. hosted approximately 350 military guests from all branches of service for a day of leisure and golf at the 14th Annual “Honor Day” military event, tournament, and gala. The event is traditionally hosted on the Thursday before Memorial Day, which falls during Fleet Week New York.
Through the members’ efforts, Eagle Oaks had a record-breaking event that raised $380,000 for Tunnel to Towers, whose goal is to support those who have made extraordinary sacrifices in the line of duty.
The military guests were overwhelmed by the pageantry of the event and the simple acts of kindness shown by those in attendance. As one young Marine from Iowa said, “I felt like a Rock Star.”
“We know that freedom is not free,” said Domenic F. Gatto, Chairman and President of Eagle Oaks Golf & Country Club. “It is our privilege and honor to host a well-deserved day of fun and relaxation for these courageous and brave men and women who so valiantly and selflessly serve our country. Our members are proud and honored to share their club for the day.”
Joe Cary, Eagle Oaks member and Honor Day Committee Chairman said, “We owe a large debt of gratitude to our brave soldiers who fight for our country’s freedom, and it is an honor to have them with us at Eagle Oaks on this special and memorable occasion.”
Honor Day is the largest Fleet Week event and has raised near two million dollars for our charity partners.
