New memberships at the Scottsdale, Ariz. golf and recreational community totaled 131 in 2018, an increase of nearly 15 percent from the previous year. The new members came from 26 states and four countries.
Desert Mountain Club in Scottsdale, Ariz. reported that it added 131 members from 26 states and four countries in 2018, an increase of nearly 15 percent from the 116 that joined in the prior year.
Fifty-two of the incoming members in 2018 were Arizona residents; other well-represented states included Washington (nine), California (eight), Minnesota (seven) and Illinois and Wisconsin (six each). All told, the new members represented eight of the ten most highly populated U.S. states, as well as states along the East and West coasts.
The influx of Californians is consistent with data recently released by Edelman Intelligence, which found that 53 percent of California residents are considering leaving the state because of its high cost of living. Of the eight Californians who made the move to Desert Mountain, most cited taxes and traffic as motivators to relocate.
“The influx of new members is well-timed, as there is a lot more to love at Desert Mountain than ever before,” said Desert Mountain Club’s CEO, Damon DiOrio.
“We are preparing for the official unveiling of two big evolutions of our club: the opening of Seven Desert Mountain, a new residential enclave and par-54 golf course (https://clubandresortbusiness.com/desert-mountain-to-introduce-seventh-course) as well as the newly reimagined Renegade course, which will feature cool-season turf, offering our members wall-to-wall green grass year-round and ultimately, more days of golf,” DiOrio added.
C&RB featured Desert Mountain’s new Interactive Trail Guide in its January 2019 issue (https://clubandresortbusiness.com/desert-mountain-club-members-enjoy-happy-trails/).
