The Coral Gables, Fla. property, which houses South Florida’s only Arnold Palmer-designed golf course, plans to revamp its 30,000 sq.-ft. Mediterranean architecture-inspired clubhouse. Plans include building a new 19th Hole Bar, expanding the fitness facility and kitchen, adding a multi-level kids club and creating an indoor courtyard dining area and larger banquet space.
Members of Deering Bay Yacht & Country Club in Coral Gables, Fla. recently approved funding that will be directed towards future improvements of the clubhouse.
The first phase of the clubhouse improvements is expected to begin in the spring of 2019, with completion expected by December 2019. The Deering Bay Board will now finalize the project architect, obtain quotes and choose the general contractor. Total Phase One investment is estimated to be between $5 million and $6 million.
Proposed improvements in Phase One will be centered in and around the club’s 30,000 sq.-ft., Mediterranean architecture-inspired clubhouse.
Plans for refreshing the clubhouse’s exterior include a new and improved arrival experience at the porte-cochere and main entrance, as well as a new roof and exterior paint. Inside the clubhouse, plans call for a new 19th Hole bar to be built; an expanded and updated fitness facility, with new rooms for fitness classes; a complete renovation of the main floor entrance and atrium; an indoor courtyard dining area; an expanded kitchen, including a performance kitchen; and a larger banquet area. In addition, a new multi-level kids club is expected to be added to the clubhouse.
“The Board is excited that the membership has voted and agreed to devote substantial resources to much-needed capital improvements of our beautiful clubhouse and facilities,” said Larry Woerner, Deering Bay’s President. “The positive vote represents the confidence that our membership has shown in Deering Bay and will allow us to elevate the services we provide to the current membership, while attracting the next generation of members.”
Established in 1990, Deering Bay is a private, member-owned club managed by Troon Privé, the private club operating division of Troon.
