Eldorado Golf Course in Norfolk, Neb. is undergoing a community-led revitalization effort, KMLF reported. The Eldorado Hills Community Association has taken ownership and operation of the course, allowing for new improvements and procedures to get the course and clubhouse up and running once again.
“We really want Eldorado to be the golf course in Norfolk,” said Jack Rother. “There’s nothing within the city limits unless it’s a private club.”
Community Board member Rother told KMLF the new model is already taking steps for long term investment in the course.
“Going forward we’re very excited that we had a unanimous decision to own and operate the property,” he said. “This will allow any potential proceeds to be reinvested back in the property and the community.”
Led by previous course designer Kevin Bruening, the golf course is undergoing restoration to bring it back to its former glory, KMLF reported. Bruening and his team are working to make a significant portion of the course playable later this year.
“The person who was essential in building the course from the ground up is now back,” he said. “We couldn’t be more excited to have Kevin.”
Board members said they’ve already seen a lot of progress on the conditions of the course, but do not have a specific date in mind for the official re-opening, KMLF reported. The community is hopeful the course can open within the next two months.
“We’re very hopeful it could be very soon,” he said.
