The first annual Otto Kahn Golf Classic will be held at the Long Island club to benefit local children’s foundation.
Cold Spring Country Club, a members-only club located in Huntington, N.Y. on the famed Gold Coast of Long Island on the grounds of the Oheka Castle Hotel & Estate, has announced plans for the first annual Otto Kahn Golf Classic, to be held on October 11. The tournament will benefit The Elena Melius Foundation, a non-profit foundation that supports local charities and organizations primarily concerned with the health and welfare of children.
Following the tournament, awards will be announced during a grand “Gatsby- Style” dinner. Post-play events will also include a silent auction of sports memorabilia and a casino night.
Individual golfers ($500) and foursomes ($2,000) will receive 18 holes of golf, a cart, one caddy per foursome, lunch, a cocktail reception, dinner, and one 50/50 raffle ticket. Additional 50/50 raffle tickets, pin flags, tee or green signs, dinner-only tickets, and sponsorship opportunities will be available for purchase.
The 18-hole, 71-par Cold Spring Country Club course, originally designed by Seth Raynor in 1919 and redesigned in 1968 by Robert Trent Jones, is available exclusively to members and guests of Oheka Castle. The course serves as a picturesque location to take in the fall foliage, and golf is available March 7 – December 22, weather permitting.
Through a special partnership with the members-only club, course amenities including golf lessons, group golf outings, cart rentals, caddies, and special weekday packages are available to guests.
Oheka Castle Hotel & Estate, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, was built in 1919 as the second-largest private home in North America, The castle served as the setting for the opening scene of “Citizen Kane” in 1941.
