The Club Management Association of America (CMAA) wrapped up a busy winter by naming new Certified Club Managers, announcing three Chapter of the Year winners and awarding scholarships to seven aspiring club managers.
The CCM designation indicates that a club management professional has completed a rigorous course of study and training and shows a dedication to proficiency and expertise in club management.
Salil S. Bokil, CCM, Hollywood Golf Club, Deal, N.J.; William F. Garbacz, Jr., CCM, Sunnybrook Golf Club, Plymouth Meeting, Pa.; James Galvano, CCM, Wianno Club, Osterville, Mass.; and Ross Johnson, CCM, Country Club of Jackson, Brandon, Miss., each met all requirements to attain CCM status.
To receive the CCM designation, one must invest time in specified education requirements, attend at least one World Conference on Club Management, and maintain activity within their local chapter. After these conditions have been met, the individual must pass the CCM Exam.
The CMAA recognized three chapters that “excelled in membership operations, recruitment and educational programming.” The Chapter of the Year Award competition recognizes outstanding work, participation and successful accomplishments of chapters within the Association. Chapters are judged on the Chapter Résumé and Chapter Highlight, Chapter and National Education, and CMAA Involvement. A $3,000 Education grant funded by The Club Foundation is awarded to each winning chapter.
