The current two-story clubhouse at the municipal Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., property is more than 20 years old. Temporary trailers have been set up for when it’s demolished, which is scheduled for November, the Post reported.
A new clubhouse with a pub and event space that can accommodate 200 people is expected to be complete in June 2017. The city expects it to help attract tournaments and other events, the Post reported.
Projects Director Charlotte Presensky said a more spacious clubhouse with additional amenities should help the course be self-sustaining while creating a better experience for golfers. “We are trying to build the facilities that are necessary to sustain the golf course assets,” she said.
The city estimated in August that the project would cost $4.6 million to design and build, according to documents. Recreation impact fees from developers and general fund stabilization reserves will help pay for the new clubhouse, the Post reported.
