The Landings Golf & Athletic Club has a unique opportunity to serve over 7,500 members and 3,500 golf members who predominantly live on Skidaway Island in Savannah, GA year round. With four soft goods golf shops and one golf performance center we take the opportunity to sell different brands and product types. We offer around 65 different brands that have all been carefully curated by location.
Our Deer Creek shop has an “east coast; west coat preppy” assortment and you can find brands such as Lilly Pulitzer, Travis Mathew and Johnnie O in there. Once a year we host the Korn Ferry Tour event, Club Car Championship at The Landings Golf & Athletics Club where the shop gets transformed and outfitted for the tournament. We have seen an increase in sales YOY by around 20% due to offering new products that are outside of typical golf brands.
With the increase in sales of lifestyle products we have expanded to selling clothing you can wear off the course. Our Marshwood golf shop allows you to shop brands that you would likely find in downtown boutiques and shops. Whether you need a dress for Sunday brunch or a jacket for your skeet shoot we don’t want you to have to leave the island to be outfitted.
We strive to maintain a fresh assortment every month in all four shops as our members play all 6 courses in rotation. With a membership the size of ours we do quickly run out of many items, so special ordering is a key part of our service and business. When the Golf Performance Center opened we shifted our approach from selling stock clubs to special ordering clubs after a member has been fit. With this specialized approach we have seen the shift in sales from soft goods to hard goods.
