Linville (N.C.) Golf Club named Bill Stines as Director of Golf. Stines, who has 34 years of experience as a head golf professional, most recently was Director of Golf at Silverleaf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz. Stines’ past courses include Scioto Country Club in Columbus, Ohio; Whisper Rock Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz.; Pete Dye Golf Club in Bridgeport, W.Va.; and the Honors Course in Chattanooga, Tenn.
Waynesboro (Pa.) Country Club Golf Teaching Professional Kathy Murphy was recently chosen in the 2020 inductee class of the LPGA Golf Professionals Hall of Fame. She is an LPGA Master Professional who was the resident Golf Professional at Palm Aire Country Club in Sarasota, Fla. and the Head Professional at The Plantation Golf & Country Club in Venice, Fla.
Cordillera Ranch in Boerne, Texas, announced that Director of Instruction Bryan Gathright was named the Harvey Penick Teacher of the Year by the Southern Texas PGA section. Gathright, the original Director of Instruction at the Harvey Penick Golf Academy in Austin, Texas, is now a three-time winner of this award.
Cattail Creek Country Club in Glenwood, Md. named Chris Robinson as Director of Racquets. Robinson was most recently Head Tennis Professional at The Elkridge Club in Baltimore, Md. During the winter months he taught full-time at the East Potomac Tennis Center in Washington D.C.
The Summit Club at Armonk (N.Y.) named Leslie Dixon as Membership Director. Dixon formerly was the Membership Director for nine years at Hampshire Country Club in Mamaroneck, N.Y. She also served as Membership Director at Radnor Valley Country Club in Villanova, Pa., and Ballantyne Country Club in Charlotte, N.C.
Crystal Mountain in Thompsonville, Mich. promoted Sammie Lukaskiewicz to Vice President of Marketing and Communications and named Everett Leonard as Vice President of Accounting. Lukaskiewicz, who has been the resort’s Public Relations Director since December 2019, worked for the State of Michigan and NASCAR prior to joining Crystal Mountain. Leonard joins the team from Fernelius Auto Group in Cheboygan, Mich., where he served as Controller for four dealerships since 2016. Prior to that, he was a Senior Internal Auditor at Munson Healthcare in Traverse City, Mich.

Nathan Crace, the only member of the American Society of Golf Course Architects based in Mississippi or Alabama, will join the ASGCA’s Board of Governors with fellow ASGCA member Drew Rogers of Toledo, Ohio. The two will replace outgoing governor Billy Fuller of Augusta, Ga., whose three-year term has ended, and Mike Benkusky of Chicago, who will become the new ASGCA Secretary. Crace recently redesigned The Refuge golf course in Flowood, Miss. and has numerous renovation projects ongoing across three states. The Refuge is slated to open in the spring of 2021, featuring three new holes to create returning nines, wider playing corridors, new greens and bunkers, and the Longleaf Tee System—allowing the course to play anywhere from 3,900 yds for juniors and beginners to 7,005 yards from the tips. The blended tee concept allowed Crace to create essentially 10 courses within 18 holes.
KemperSports named Sara Kearney as Vice President of Hospitality and Strategic Initiatives. Kearney will support KemperSports’ expansion of its relationship with Streamsong Resort to assume management of all resort operations for the award-winning, Central Florida destination. In addition, Sara will support the company’s other destination lodging properties, as well as work with executive leadership on strategic marketing and growth initiatives. Most recently, Kearney served in several global marketing and operating positions for Hyatt. In addition, she served as the General Manager of Park Hyatt Chicago.
David Meyers Associates named Denise M. Zanchelli, MBA, CHE as Senior Culinary Associate. Zanchelli was most recently Director of Operations for Advancement and Alumni Relations at The Culinary Institute of America.
IN MEMORIAM
Thomas (Tom) Hayward Torrey, 74, passed away in Florida after a brief illness. After honorably serving his country in the Air Force, Torrey managed food-and-beverage operations at high-end restaurants, clubs and hotels in Southeast Florida, including several Trump properties, and later managed F&B operations at San Jose Country Club, Hidden Hills Country Club and Serenata Beach Club in the Jacksonville area. Later, after managing a bed-and-breakfast inn in the mountains near Waynesville, N.C. for several years, Torrey returned to Southeast Florida, where he provided consultation services in the restaurant industry.
