The history of the Marshwood Barn adds to its charm and individuality. Originally serving as the Club’s tennis hitting wall, it was later covered so it could be used as a temporary cart barn during the Marshwood clubhouse renovations. However, with the onset of COVID, the cart barn was further reimagined into the Marshwood “Banquet” Barn to host a variety of outdoor events, including low country boils, barbecues under the oaks, and live music events. The Marshwood Banquet Barn gained immense popularity among members for its rustic vibe and view of the first fairway.
In November 2022, the venue acquired a mobile kitchen, parked it at the Marshwood Barn and named it 5-9ATE, a play off the 598-telephone prefix for Skidaway Island. 5-9ATE offers a rotational menu that changes monthly. This innovative concept allows guests to enjoy a diverse range of themed tasty treats such as Comfort Pies, New York Chinese, New England-Style Rolls, Nashville Hot Chicken, All Things Shrimp, and Chilled Summer Eats.
Additionally, adjacent to the Marshwood Barn there is the seasonal ice cream shop, Island Scoop, for guests to indulge in.
