According to Google, A patio is “an outdoor space generally used for dining or recreation that adjoins a structure and is typically paved.”[2]  The key words in the definition are dining and recreation, which in turn equates to great member experiences.

We believe we have accomplished that exact meaning in just three short months without all the glitz and glamour our fellow nominees may offer. Here is our story:

As late as April of this year, the thought of Bear Valley Country Club submitting an entry for “Patio of The Year” would be considered a cruel joke. A large section of the outdoor terrace was red tagged and closed due to dilapidation. Another portion of the outdoor area featured cracked and uneven pavement. It was so bad that the only members who frequented the areas were smokers, who couldn’t go anywhere else.  What made this even more shameful was the views from these areas were magnificent- a huge lake, beautiful golf course and majestic snow packed mountains.
