Greens have been resodded, traps replenished and fertilization completed at the Miami course; a new clubhouse is scheduled to open before the end of 2011.
Club Med Sandpiper Bay in Miami, Fla., which bills itself as the only all-inclusive family resort in the U.S., has announced recent improvements to its 18-hole golf course, including a completely remodeled driving range, practice green and short game facility.
Championship Golf Course Services (CGCS) now oversees maintenance, upgrades and landscaping of the golf course at Sandpiper Bay. The course upgrade is part one of a greater initiative to enhance the property’s golf facilities and experience. Additional upgrades in store include a new clubhouse that is scheduled to open December 20, 2011 and that will feature a new lounge, retail space, club fitting, video analysis and an indoor training facility.
For the golf course improvement project, Club Med Sandpiper Bay engaged an aggressive treatment plan under the direction of CGCS. All course greens have been replenished with Tifdwarf Sod, and a fertilization program has been implemented to maintain the greens, trees, bunker edges and slopes. Trap and bunker sand has been replenished to improve quality, play and aesthetics.
