Other items of note | Lake Toxaway completed "Phase II" of a comprehensive plan with the opening of an all-new Lake Club amenity in the summer of 2020. The Club utilized an undeveloped parcel of land adjacent to Lake Toxaway. This land offered an opportunity for a multi-generational pool facility that reflects the personality of the Club. Architect Mark Diedrich with KUO Diedrich took advantage of the natural drop in elevation toward the lake, allowing a stunning, unobstructed lake view while enjoying the new 3,000 square foot heated pool complete with wading shelf, bubblers, and a perimeter overflow edge. For fitness users, the pool is well-suited for water aerobics and two lap lanes strategically placed and marked across the bottom of the pool. A Youth Activities building is adjacent to the pool allowing the youngest members of the Club access to air hockey, ping-pong and other various games. A new sidewalk and landscaped entrance with a gate greets visitors arriving at the new pool. The pool deck provides ample opportunities to sunbathe and sit with family and friends under shaded umbrellas with plenty of lounging space. The expansive deck area is also perfect for private parties or for children looking to gather and meet friends. The pool terrace also houses a new bath house with restrooms, lockers, and an outdoor shower. The Lake Club Grille overlooks the pool and serves as a halfway house for golfers as well as a “Boaters Porch” to accommodate those visiting by boat and parked at the docks below. The Grille serves alcoholic beverages, casual fare and pizza in a relaxed atmosphere. Bathing suits and flip flops are welcome at the Grille. The Grille also serves as a convenient spot for Tennis, Croquet and Pickleball players to enjoy lunch or dinner after play. The complex has been designed to accommodate future expansion of the pool, deck and dining terraces and there is an opportunity to enclose the Grille porch as the need arises. The location of the Lake Club offers unrivaled lake and mountain views, and is within walking distance of the main clubhouse which underwent an $8mm renovation in 2017, the marina, five Har-Tru tennis courts, two championship croquet lawns and three pickleball courts. Since opening to the membership, the Club has accepted 40 new member families. The membership velocity has enabled the Club to increase Initiation Fees by $25,000 for the 2022 season, along with dues increases across all membership categories |
The Lake Club (Pool, Grille, kid's game room, pool house) was phase II of a club makeover that has transformed the club. The average age of our membership has dropped by 2 years over the past 2.5 years and the membership has reached capacity, with a waitlist started. This part of the club has evolved from a seldom-used afterthought, to what is now the most energizing amenity the club has. Food and Beverage sales for the short season (3 months) are $300,000. This is part of an overall increase from $600k to $2.3 Mil in F&B from 2016 to 2022.
