Executive chefs from the Garden of the Gods Club and Resort, The Club at Flying Horse and The Broadmoor are participating in fundraising events through the Pikes Peak Culinary Series.
The Springs Rescue Mission in Colorado Springs, Colo. relies heavily on donated food to prepare meals for its guests, reported The Gazette of Colorado Springs, and now it is also benefitting from the Pikes Peak Culinary Series, a fundraising project with participation from several club and resort chefs.
The series involves four culinary evenings at four exceptional dining venues, the Gazette reported. The second dinner in the series was recently held at the Garden of the Gods Club and Resort in Colorado Springs, where Executive Chef Brian Knutsen prepared the meal.
The third dinner will be held at The Club at Flying Horse on April 9, the Gazette reported, and the final meal is scheduled for The Broadmoor on May 14. The cost is $250 per person per dinner.
In March, the Gazette reported, the local chapter of the American Culinary Federation teamed up with the chefs at the Springs Rescue Mission to prepare a lavish dinner for about 100 of the mission’s clients. The menu included donated filet mignon and shrimp for the entreé. The mission dinner was a prelude to the Culinary Passport fundraiser that will be held April 11, when 13 chefs will prepare an array of international cuisines and desserts, with wine and beer paired to the food, at a cost of $40 per person.
The chef brigade at the Springs Rescue Mission has also staffed the kitchen with several American Culinary Federation-certified chefs, the Gazette reported. In addition to helping the kitchen’s food standards reaching new heights, the chefs have turned a catering project, called Mission Catering that is open to the public, into a profit center for the organization.
