Nick Price and Tom Fazio were retained by the city of Boca Raton, Fla., to redesign the former Ocean Breeze golf course. New facility will feature an 18-hole course, an 11-hole par-three course, a putting green, and a new clubhouse and training center.
Plans are set for a new public golf course in Boca Raton, Fla., WPTV in West Palm Beach reported. The former Ocean Breeze Golf Club will be redesigned into Boca National Golf Club.
Professional golfer Nick Price and golf course designer Tom Fazio have put together a plan for the 200 acres of the run-down Ocean Breeze golf course, according to the WPTV report.
“The most important thing is to encourage people who don’t play the game to come and play here,” said Price.
Boca National will be owned by the city and Price said they want the course to be available to everybody.
The plans include an 18-hole course and an 11-hole par-three course, a putting green, and a new clubhouse and training center.
“Even the big course, we are going to do a sixth tee that will be on the front of the fairway and that will play almost like a junior course,” said Fazio.
Price and Fazio have a $20 million budget provided by the Boca Raton Beach and Parks District, WPTV reported. Fazio said the golf course will cost about $10 million and the amenities will make up the rest of the budget.
The permitting process has begun and construction should start this summer, according to the report.
“This is when we start enjoying it because this is when we start moving around,” said Price.
Boca National is expected to open in the fall of 2020, WPTV reported.
