This is the first time Cherry Hills will host a PGA Tour event since the 1985 PGA Championship.
BMW Championship tournament officials announced that Cherry Hills Country Club in Cherry Hills Village, Colorado, would be the venue for the 2014 edition of the event.
The BMW Championship is the third of four events in the PGA Tour playoffs for the FedEx Cup.
“Cherry Hills has served as a worthy venue for many of golf’s finest championships,” said Vince Pellegrino, vice president of tournaments for the Western Golf Association. “We’re looking forward to bringing the world’s top players to Colorado for the 2014 PGA Tour Playoffs.”
Cherry Hills has previously hosted two U.S. Opens, two PGA Championships, a U.S. Women’s Open and a U.S. Senior Open. It’s also slated to host the 2012 U.S. Amateur.
This is the first time Cherry Hills will host a PGA Tour event since the 1985 PGA Championship.
“Cherry Hills welcomes the opportunity to once again showcase our course and to put Denver at the center of the golf world in September, 2014,” said John Elway, Cherry Hills president. “Hosting the 2014 BMW Championship reaffirms our commitment to opening our course for competition at the highest level.”
The inaugural BMW Championship was held at Cog Hill Golf & Country Club in Lemont, Illinois. Cog Hill played host to the event in 2009, 2010 and will host again later this year.
