Cal Fire officials received a call just after 3 p.m. that some people were having trouble breathing near one of the resort’s pool areas. Officials said three patients are showing serious symptoms, three patients have moderate symptoms, and seven patients have minor symptoms, KESQ reported.
No word on exactly what kind of chemical vapor was causing the illnesses, or how it came about at the pool. A Hazmat team is investigating the reported vapor, KESQ reported.
KESQ News Channel 3 and CBS Local 2 reporter Joe Galli spoke with a loss prevention representative with the Marriott Shadow Ridge. The representative said the pool has been tested and was found to be safe. The pool was reopened for guests by the evening.
In May, four people were shocked in a pool at the same location. The Riverside County Department of Environmental Health’s Indio office investigated the electrical failure that is believed to have caused that incident, KESQ reported.
