Looking to attract new members and drive business, the new owner of the Charlevoix (Mich.) Country Club will open the club’s dining and golf to the public.
David Mocini, who most recently spent five seasons as General Manager and Director of Golf at True North Golf Club in Harbor Springs, Mich., purchased the 18-hole golf course and 13,000-sq. ft. clubhouse, with associated restaurant, tennis courts and pool amenities, from the club’s founders. While the founders maintain control of the residential properties and real estate, Mocini plans to take the club in a new direction, starting by opening the golf course and restaurant facility to non-members.
“The location is great and the community is one anyone would like to spend time in,” Mocini, a former Michigan Professional Golfers Association (PGA) president, said in an article in the Petoskey News Review. “These are tough economic times and we understand there are challenges everywhere and in particular in golf. Being in business in Michigan is a challenge. But Northern Michigan remains a unique attraction.”
