With membership jumping from 25 to 131 over the past year under new ownership, the Brownwood, Texas club’s improvements are drawing attention from the community. So far, the cart path and sand traps on the first nine holes have been upgraded, while the biggest project will be the construction of the 12,000-sq. ft. clubhouse, which is expected to be open by the beginning of 2014.
Many people in Brownwood, Texas have been waiting for the improvements at The Hideout Golf Club, and are saying they are up to par so far, the Abilene (Texas)-based KTAB-TV reported.
The Hideout Golf Club has new owners and renovations have begun. The cart path and sand traps on the first nine holes were fixed first, and the upkeep of the greens have improved greatly, KTAB-TV reported.
However, the biggest project is the construction of the 12,000-sq. ft. clubhouse, which will include a bar/restaurant, locker rooms for members, a pool and hot tub, and hotel rooms. The property will stay semi-private, but the golf pro said he can already see a difference in attendance with just the few renovations done on the course, KTAB-TV reported.
Compared to last February, membership has jumped from 25 to 131, and property along the lake and golf course is selling fast to start building homes. Officials hope to have the clubhouse open by the beginning of 2014, KTAB-TV reported.
With the new additions at the clubhouse, the club hopes to attract women and children to come out and enjoy the club. The golf club has already booked three weddings for the spring, KTAB-TV reported.
