The Country Club of North Carolina in Pinehurst, N.C. is starting a $3.5 million clubhouse renovation project, scheduled to be completed by late summer.
The project is set to begin around March 1 with a five-month scheduled construction period. The goal is to produce a modern, exciting venue for dining and socializing that will create a vibrant atmosphere and stimulate usage, the club said.
The renovation includes updated décor throughout the clubhouse and enhancements of the existing dining rooms, member lounge, outdoor dining terrace, and adding a new private dining room with wine display. The ladies locker room will be relocated within the building, as well.
This is following a large kitchen remodel in 2019 and the first of several phases planned through the coming years.
The Club is working with Chambers on the planning and design.
The project was approved following member input and overwhelming support, including surveys and numerous informational meetings—both at the club and in Raleigh and Charlotte for state members.
Established in 1963, CCNC has two golf courses—the Dogwood Course, designed by Ellis Maples/Willard Byrd and the Cardinal Course, designed by Willard Byrd/Robert Trent Jones. Both courses were renovated by Arthur Hills between 1999 and 2002. In 2016, the Dogwood Course was completely renovated by Kris Spence, who was respectful to the original Ellis Maples design while modernizing the course to accommodate new technology.
CCNC, which will host the 2021 U.S. Junior Amateur Championship, the preeminent junior golf championship in the world, has been a certified member of the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program for Golf Courses since 2003.
