It was unclear from reports if the car lodged in the window of a club building or a community residence. The club was closed at the time of the incident, which occurred at 6 a.m. on December 24th.
An unidentified building on the property that includes Hope Valley Country Club in Durham, N.C. and its surrounding residential community was damaged when a car was driven through its window at about 6 a.m. on Christmas Eve, the Durham Herald-Sun reported.
A woman in the car involved in the wreck was transported to a hospital, and the extent of her injuries were not disclosed, the Herald-Sun reported. Police did not have any information available later that day about the cause of the crash, it was added.
At the time of the accident, the roads were wet and rain was falling, and the country club was closed. A spokeswoman for the club declined comment when contacted later on Wednesday, the Herald-Sun reported.
A Durham television station, WTVD ABC 11, aired a report (http://abc11.com/449204/) that included a picture of the car suspended in the building’s window. WTVD reported that the building was near the entrance to the country club, where the speed zone is only 25 mph.
The Hope Valley community and club date back to the 1920s. The club includes a championship golf course designed by Donald Ross. The community includes the Hope Valley Historic District, which earned entry on the National Register of Historic Places in 2009.
