Currently, KemperSports operates the Rancho Solano and Paradise Valley golf courses and Sports Restaurant Inc. manages food, beverage and banquet operations for Fairfield, Calif., under contracts that expire at the end of 2015. The city’s Golf Advisory Board has recommended to City Council that proposals be sought for consolidated management of all operations.
Members of the Golf Advisory Board for Fairfield, Calif. favor seeking proposals to allow a single company to manage the city’s Rancho Solano and Paradise Valley golf courses along with their food operations, The Daily Republic of Fairfield-Suisun, Calif. reported.
Currently, Kemper Sports Inc. has operated the golf courses while Sports Restaurants Inc. has managed food, beverages and banquets. Agreements for both companies expire December 31 of 2015, The Daily Republic reported.
The Fairfield city staff recommends not extending either agreement, The Daily Republic reported, and that the City Council approve sending out a request for qualifications from companies to manage both the golf courses and food operations. At its meeting on March 12, the Golf Advisory Board, a seven-member citizens panel, backed that proposal.
The Fairfield City Council will now take up the matter at its meeting on March 17, The Daily Republic reported. At its previous meeting on March 3, the Council had agreed to delay a vote on seeking proposals, after Councilwoman Pam Bertani asked to allow a review by the advisory board.
“It would make more sense to hear the experts,” Bertani said of the golf panel. “I’m looking for advise and consent.”
Fairfield is located midway between San Francisco and Sacramento and is the county seat of Solano County. It is the home of Travis Air Force Base, and the Jelly Belly candy company is headquartered there. The city’s population was over 108,000, according to the 2010 census.
Rancho Solano Golf Course opened in 1990 and Paradise Valley Golf Course opened in 1993.
