While the General Manager of the Fletcher, N.C. public course says it is “profitable and busy,” the owners have filed for protection with a bankruptcy court for reorganization. It was confirmed that a sale price of $3 million has been set and there are interested parties, but no confirmed buyers. Only 20 acres of the property, which now is used for the driving range, has the potential for development, because the rest of the course lies in a flood plain.
The owners of Broadmoor Golf Links, a public course in Fletcher, N.C., have filed for protection with a bankruptcy court to reorganize their business, WLOS ABC 13 of Asheville, N.C. reported.
The station looked into the situation after hearing speculation that the golf course was for sale or might have been sold and also hearing from a viewer who called WLOS’ “Ask 13” hotline to ask, “What’s happening with the Broadmoor golf course?”
Broadmoor’s General Manager, Hollie Storrier, confirmed that Broadmoor Golf Links is for sale for $3 million, WLOS reported. Right now, there are no confirmed buyers, but people are interested in the property, Storrier said.
Any deal would have to be approved by the bankruptcy court, Storrier added, so until then, she’s continuing to operate business as usual.
“[We’re] continuing to do all of our events, our tournaments, our junior camps, [and] our leagues,” she said.
Developers have shown interest in the part of the property that’s now the driving range, WLOS reported. That 20 acres has the potential for re-development, but the rest of the course could not be developed because it lies in a flood plain.
Because the course continues to make money, Storrier told WLOS, it’s her hope that Broadmoor would continue under new ownership as one of the Asheville area’s premiere public golf courses.
“The course is profitable, it’s in a great location,” Storrier said. “Our range stays busy [and] the clubhouse is always busy as far as weddings and events and local business. And we have the PGA Pro program out here. So it is profitable and we are busy.”
