A partnership between Michael Zmetrovich and Paul Ferriera is recapitalizing the San Antonio, Texas club, with plans to make improvements to and oversee management of the property.
Briggs Ranch Golf Club ownership has sold the San Antonio, Texas development, the San Antonio Business Journal reported.
A partnership led by Z Golf Properties LLC President and CEO Michael Zmetrovich, has squired the private club, developed in 2001 by a group including Gil Hodge, Buddy Cook and Bill Rogers. Terms of the deal were not disclosed, the Business Journal reported.
Zmetrovich, along with partner Paul Ferriera, are recapitalizing the property—which includes a course designed by noted architect Tom Fazio—through an affiliate of Blue Hawk Investments, a private equity real estate investment and development firm, the Business Journal reported.
“Briggs Ranch Golf Club is a phenomenal property,” Zmetrovich said. “Not only are the golf course and the club’s 18-acre practice facilities among the best in the world, (Briggs Ranch) has a great group of local, national and international members to build upon.”
The new owners say club members can expect to see improvements to Briggs Ranch, the Business Journal reported.
“We know it is going to take some time for them to get everything they want in place,” said LPGA board member and Briggs Ranch resident Karen Jennings.
Zmetrovich will serve as president and managing partner of the club. His company will oversee management of the property. Fazio is familiar with Zmetrovich and expects his group will provide a lift to the club, the Business Journal reported.
“I have had the opportunity to work with (Zmetrovich) and his company after he acquired another one of my designs in Southwest Florida, Coral Creek Club,” Fazio said. “He has the experience, professionalism and creativity required to lead Briggs Ranch Golf Club.”
