Dormie Network’s agricultural team spent the summer at the San Antonio, Texas club restoring the putting surfaces back to their former glory and original size. The team replaced the heat-sensitive bent grass with lush TifEagle Bermuda turf that provides a sustainable, high-quality putting surface year-round. Fifteen four-bedroom casitas on site offer master suites, a fully stocked bar, fireplace and lounge in the common area, and a private, walkout patio on which to relax around the firepit.
Briggs Ranch, a Tom Fazio-designed course located just a half hour from downtown San Antonio, Texas, and a Dormie Network club, has renovated its green complexes with TifEagle Bermuda grass and debuted a third round of state-of-the-art casitas.
Dormie Network’s agricultural team spent the summer at Briggs Ranch restoring the putting surfaces back to their former glory and original size—more than twice what they had shrunk to since the course’s 2001 debut. The team replaced the heat-sensitive bent grass with lush TifEagle Bermuda turf that provides a sustainable, high-quality putting surface year-round. The project has improved the golf experience while also promoting sustainability.
The casitas are nestled into the tree line to the left of the first hole and are styled with classic Southwestern accents. There are 15 four-bedroom casitas on site with master suites, a fully stocked bar, fireplace and lounge in the common area, and a private, walkout patio on which to relax around the firepit.
In the casitas, guests enjoy private dining of inspired cuisine, featuring network specialties or unique dishes created just to your liking. The Briggs Ranch culinary team crafts custom dishes and drinks to be enjoyed at the clubhouse, in a private dining space, or at the casita.
Also new at Briggs Ranch is the “Truck Stop,” a mobile bar experience made from an old truck, with beer on tap and plenty of fixings for cocktails. The Truck Stop is generally located near the first tee, helping get a golfer’s round started on the right foot.
Briggs Ranch members enjoy home club access to all Dormie Network clubs, which also include: ArborLinks in Nebraska City, Neb.; Ballyhack in Roanoke, Va.; Dormie Club just outside of Pinehurst, N.C.; Hidden Creek in Egg Harbor Township, N.J.; and Victoria National in Newburgh, Ind.
In addition, Dormie Network members are also anxiously anticipating an all-new, pure golf destination club in the Nebraska Sandhills called GrayBull. The course is currently being constructed from the ground up by master architect David McLay Kidd, with a projected open date of fall 2024.
Under a single dues structure, membership provides full access to each club so no matter where they live, Dormie Network members always have access to a course with ideal golf weather.
With Dormie Network’s private golf clubs across the country, members and their guests are treated to a consistent level of service and quality while experiencing the best of each unique geographical area. The distinctively Texan clubhouse at Briggs Ranch is replete with Spanish-style tiling and terra-cotta roof, and offers a variety of dining and meeting spaces to suit parties of all sizes.
Dormie Network’s regionally influenced menus capture the essence of each unique club. At Briggs Ranch, farm-to-table menus with a Texas flair await, such as refreshing blackened scallop red corn tacos or member-favorite pork barbacoa enchiladas. Tex-Mex influence weaves throughout Briggs Ranch’s menu with spice at the forefront. Briggs Ranch is also home to Chef’s Table, a private interactive dining experience perfect for private business meetings, date nights, and groups celebrating special occasions. Chef Josh Reeves and his culinary team walk guests through this eight-course culinary journey, describing the inspiration and ingredients used behind each dish.
