More than 65 teams from clubs in the ClubCorp Family competed for the traveling trophy, and a variety of prizes
A team from Braemar Country Club, Tarzana, Calif., birdied the last five holes to win the 2011 Acura ClubCorp Team Championship/Country Clubs and Resort event. The Braemar team – consisting of Gregg Dunn, Daniel Dutil, Shy Kalaydjian, Jim Nitz and Eddie Valladares – staged a dramatic push during the last round to edge The Club at Falcon Point from Katy, Texas, by one stroke.
More than 65 teams from country clubs in the ClubCorp family traveled to Barton Creek Resort & Spa in Austin, Texas, to compete for the Traveling Trophy and other prizes.
Now in its 25th year, the 54-hole tournament, which took place Sept. 7-11, is one of the largest national golf competitions in the country exclusively for private and semi-private golf and country club members.
More than 500 people attended this year’s tournament, including players, spouses, vendors, and sponsors, for five days of championship golf, cocktail receptions, buffet lunches, and several Acura-sponsored activities, events, and prizes including guest drives, a Monte Carlo dinner event, an awards dinner and one year’s use of any 2012 Acura, which was won by Dale Springer, a member from Quail Hollow Country Club in Painesville, Ohio. In addition, prizes were awarded throughout the five days, including a Seabourn Cruise; a Down Under Endeavors trip for two to Australia; two trips to Disney World; and 90 pairs of Maui Jim sunglasses.
“The Acura ClubCorp Team Championship for our country clubs and resorts is by far one of the most talked-about events of the year,” said Mark Burnett, ClubCorp executive vice president, golf and country club division. “The members really take pride in representing their clubs in a national competition and at the same time get to experience all the fun, excitement, and camaraderie that goes along with the tournament.”
ClubCorp holds several national tournaments throughout the year, including the Acura ClubCorp Team Championship Business and Sports Club; the Couples’ Tournament Presented by Seabourn; the ClubCorp Women’s Tennis Challenge Cup Presented by Acura; and the Jaguar Two-Person Best Ball.
