The two-day event held at the Boca Raton, Fla., club resulted in nearly $500,000 raised for children’s charities, including the Special Olympics, SOS Children’s Villages, Toys for Tots, the George Snow Scholarship Fund and The Unicorn Children’s Foundation. Boca West Country Club in Boca Raton, Fla., hosted the 23rd annual charity extravaganza, in which a group of country club managers, club members, golf industry representatives and local executives gathered to raise funds to support children in need. The two-day event resulted in nearly $500,000 for children’s charities.
Proceeds from this year’s gala and golf tournament surpassed expectations and will be shared by Special Olympics of Palm Beach County, the SOS Children’s Villages – Florida, the U.S. Marine’s Toys for Tots for Palm Beach County, the George Snow Scholarship Fund and The Unicorn Children’s Foundation.
“Each year the Charity Golf Tournament has become more successful than the previous year, and this year was no exception,” said Jay DiPietro, tournament chairman. “Club Managers, club members and hospitality vendors throughout South Florida came together for the good of the children. Boca West is honored to be a primary sponsor of this wonderful event.”
The golf tournament was held on Monday, June 10 with a field of 400 golfers and over 750 at the Pre-Tournament Gala held on Sunday evening, June 9 at Boca West.
The following companies supported the effort with $35,000 or more in cash and donations: Cheney Bros, Inc.; Sysco Southeast Florida; John Deere Golf & ShowTurf; Daniel Events; Republic National Distributing Company, Club Car and of course the Board of Governors and Members at Boca West Country Club.
