Blue Ridge Country Club in Palmerton, Pa., closed its doors on November 27, according to Amanda Heffelfinger, who was a bartender at the club, the Allentown (Pa.) Morning Call reported.
The Morning Call could not reach Blue Ridge’s manager for comment.
This week, the member-owned club’s phone number was disconnected and its website taken off line, the Morning Call reported.
Blue Ridge is the latest in a string of Lehigh Valley golf courses, including the Indian Creek Golf Club in Emmaus and the Center Valley Club in Upper Saucon Valley, to go under in recent years, the Morning Call reported.
Originally, Blue Ridge, which opened in 1915, featured a nine-hole course. However, the course was expanded to 18 holes in 1989. A new $3 million clubhouse was built in 2003, replacing the original clubhouse, which had undergone its last major renovation in the late 1950s, the Morning Call reported.
