Previously known as the Edgewater Bistro, the popular eatery has adopted a new name and home, expanding its dining capacity from 80 to more than 300 patrons. The restaurant’s menu will remain the same and it will also take on catering for the public club.
Popular restaurant Edgewater Bistro has taken on a new name and adopted a new home at the Charlevoix (Mich.) Country Club, the Charlevoix Courier reported.
The restaurant, owned and operated by Allen and Mandy Plungis, is now known as The Bistro at Charlevoix Country Club. With the move, it has expanded its dining capacity from 80 to more than 300 patrons. Opening night for The Bistro’s new location was April 10, the Courier reported.
“The reception was just awesome. We had great feedback from the members, many of whom would frequent Edgewater,” said Allen Plungis.
Despite the significant increase in size, the restaurant has been able to adapt to its new digs, the Courier reported.
“I have worked in many restaurants of this size through my career. I have a love and passion for what I do. I am here all the time, I spend 100 hours a week here, and am not only the owner, but also the chef,” Plungis said.
The restaurant’s menu choices are not changing with the move, the Courier reported.
“Our sushi menus and our popular pizzas will be there as well,” Plungis said. “We have been able to diversify with this move. There is a main dining hall, that is more upscale, but we also will now operate the sports bar as well. The sports bar will feature some lighter fare, but our full regular menu will be available as well.”
The Bistro also will provide catering for a variety of events hosted by the country club, the Courier reported.
“I owned a catering business in Ann Arbor for about eight years, so this is something that won’t be a problem,” Plungis said. “I like the challenge and the change, and I really enjoy being able to work in the country club atmosphere, and cover all of the events.”
The addition of The Bistro at Charlevoix Country Club is the culmination of a top-to-bottom revitalization of the club that began in 2012 with its acquisition by new owner Fred Taylor. “The addition of The Bistro is the cherry on top. This union allows the Plungis to expand and brings a new level of culinary excellence to the Charlevoix Country Club,” said club staff member Michelle LaVere.
The Charlevoix Country Club is open to the public, the Courier reported.
