The 18-hole course at the West Palm Beach, Fla. was originally designed and has now been renovated by Jack Nicklaus, who was present with his wife Barbara for a ribbon-cutting to mark its official reopening. “I’m blessed with five kids and 17 grandkids, and one great-grandkid,” Nicklaus said during the ceremony. “But I’m also blessed with about 315 golf courses that are my children, too. So I like to stay with my children. I like to grow with them. I like to see them evolve, and when they need help, help them a little bit. That’s what we did here at Bear Lakes.”
Legendary golfer Jack Nicklaus and his wife Barbara cut the ribbon at Bear Lakes Country Club in West Palm Beach, Fla. on November 19th to officially reopen the club’s Lakes Course, WPEC CBS 12 of West Palm Beach reported.
The 18-hole golf course, designed by Nicklaus, has been renovated and is ready for play. The club also has an 18-hole, Nicklaus-designed Links Course.
“I’m blessed with five kids and 17 grandkids, and one great-grandkid,” Nicklaus said with a smile during the ceremony, WPEC reported. “But I’m also blessed with about 315 golf courses that are my children, too.
“So I like to stay with my children. I like to grow with them,” he added. “I like to see them evolve, and when they need help, help them a little bit. That’s what we did here at Bear Lakes.”
As part of the ceremony, Bear Lakes CC also presented a donation to Jack and Barbara Nicklaus in support of the Nicklaus Children’s Health Care Foundation, which helps to provide world-class pediatric care to children locally and globally, WPEC reported.
