Bay City (Mich.) Country Club is trying to stop an Arizona investment group from holding a foreclosure sale at the end of February. According to a report from The Associated Press, Terra Marketing of Phoenix says the 82-year-old club owes more than $3 million. The club claims the debt is not that high.
The club asked a federal judge in Bay City on Friday to freeze the sale with a restraining order. In a court filing, it says a delay would help determine just how much is owed. A postponement also could give the club a chance to line up other financing. It has 209 members and employs 85 people during peak periods of the golf season.
