John Deere Launches New Reel Mower, Partners with OnGolf
The new John Deere 8900A PrecisionCut Large Area Reel Mower offers a broad width-of-cut, shorter wheelbase, and the ability to shift between mow and transport without having to stop. John Deere has also partnered with OnGolf to create OnLink, a cloud-based golf course management platform that also collects data.
Nine GCSAA Chapters Receive Best Management Practices Grants
The grant program is funded through the Environmental Institute for Golf, the philanthropic arm of GCSAA, through a donation from The PGA Tour. Chapters receiving $10,000 grants include Connecticut GCSA, California GCSA, Carolinas GCSA and Tennessee GCSA, while the Eastern Shore (Md.) Association of GCS and the Mid-Atlantic Association of GCS will receive $7,500 each, and the Georgia GCSA and the Metropolitan (N.Y. and N.J.) GCSA will receive $5,000 each.

The nine-hole golf course in McLaren Park in San Francisco launched an Indiegogo campaign last month to fund the disc golf course, which met its $10,000 goal in 2.5 hours, due in large part to 25 donors who each gave $500.
Dunwoodie GC Injury Settlement Could Reach $2.7M
Joseph Erato alleged that he was struck by a golf cart at the county-run Yonkers, N.Y., golf course in 2014 and was admitted to the hospital for 51 days, during which he had six surgeries. The golf concession insurer will pay $1 million, and Westchester County could be on the hook for the remainder of the settlement.
BallenIsles Plans 23,000-sq. ft. Clubhouse Expansion
The Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., property has requested that the city council allow it to expand its 80,000-sq. ft. clubhouse, creating a larger second-floor lobby, dining rooms, meeting rooms, bars, kitchens, card rooms and storage areas. The property also asked permission to build a 3,000-sq. ft. administration building.

Badlands GC Developer Accuses Opposition of Extortion
EHB Cos. claims a group opposed to the development of the now-shuttered Las Vegas golf course has “engaged in a scheme to create misinformation and political opposition” in an effort to enrich themselves. A separate lawsuit over the development plans was dismissed in November, in which EHB Cos. was awarded more than $128,000 in attorneys’ fees and costs.
The Wynn GC to Become Paradise Park
Wynn Resorts plans to spend $1.5 billion transforming the Las Vegas property into a 38-acre lagoon surrounded by sandy beaches, with a 1,000-room hotel-casino, restaurants and nightlife attractions. The golf club currently brings in $5 million per year, and the company estimates the proposed resort could make up to $400 million annually.
The Odyssey CC to Unveil Event Center March 1
The remodeled interior space at the Tinley Park, Ill., club will open to the public featuring platinum wall coverings and finishes, marble floors and crystal chandeliers. The space’s established architectural features, including the grand entry foyer with twin staircases and two-story fireplace, will remain.
The Highlands GC Sold to Nature Center
Third Coast Development initially purchased the 121-acre Grand Rapids, Mich., property for $2.6 million last week with plans to build condominiums and homes, but instead immediately sold the property for $3.5 million to the Blandford Nature Center and the Land Conservancy of West Michigan. The organizations plan to restore the habitat, develop trails and create public programs.
