Austin, Texas Racquet Club Plans Expansion

By C&RB Staff | April 29, 2022

Polo Tennis and Fitness Club will add three lighted padel courts and three lighted pickleball courts. The private club’s indoor fitness center will double in size, as well, with new equipment and group fitness space.

Polo Tennis and Fitness Club in Austin, Texas has plans for a state-of-the-art facility expansion that will bring pickleball, padel and a renovated fitness center. Estimated completion is July 1, 2022. The club will become the first in Austin to feature dedicated facilities and programs for tennis, pickleball and padel.

Pickleball is the fastest growing sport in the United States, with more than 4.8 million active players. It is played on a 20 x 44-foot court and is perfect for players of all experience levels.

Padel, a racquet sport popularized in Spain, is another rapidly growing sport that combines elements of tennis and squash in a glass enclosed court. All Racquet Sports is leading the construction and development of the three courts. Technological highlights include aluminum exclusive profiles, laser-cut anchor plates, LED lighting and AFP Turf Monofibre.

Polo Tennis and Fitness will be the first club in Austin to have three outdoor padel courts available for play.

Lastly, the indoor fitness center at Polo Tennis and Fitness Club will double in size, with new equipment, group fitness space and more coming soon.

“This news is a game changer for our members and the Austin racquet sports community,” said Dan Carozza, Director of Racquets and Club Manager of Polo Tennis and Fitness Club. “I want to thank our ownership and the entire team for helping this vision come to fruition. We thank and express our special appreciation to Anders Eriksson, founder and co-owner, for his perseverance pushing Polo Tennis and Fitness Club forward since his acquisition in 2009, culminating in this historic expansion.”

According to Eriksson, “We couldn’t be more proud to offer world-class programming in tennis, pickleball, and padel, as well as state-of-the-art equipment in our two-story fitness center. This makes us a clear leader in the private club market.”

To celebrate the opening of the club’s new amenities, Polo Tennis and Fitness club will hold an Open House event July 30 that is open to the public. Guests can tour the facility, try out all of the racquet sport offerings, and learn about membership opportunities.
