Police are looking for two suspected arsonists responsible for three “calculated” fires set at the Oakland Charter Township, Mich., property. A large pole barn containing maintenance equipment and a total of 57 golf carts were destroyed.
Oakland County sheriff’s deputies are looking for two suspected arsonists responsible for “calculated” fires set at a Myth Golf Course and Banquet Center in Oakland Charter Township, Mich., about 4 a.m. on April 24, Michigan Live reported.
There were 57 golf carts and a pole barn destroyed by flames at the property, located about 30 miles north of Detroit. Investigators say the culprits set three separate fires, Live reported.
“The first fire was to an area where 31 golf carts that were parked outside,” officials said in a statement Friday. “The second fire was a single golf cart driven to a pond in the middle of the course, set on fire and was also destroyed.
“The third fire was set in a large pole barn, which stored approximately 25 golf carts, lawn maintenance equipment, and several 55 gallon drums containing flammable materials (fertilizer, gasoline, and oil).”
The Myth Golf Course is owned and managed by Vargo Golf Company, Live reported.
