According to a report by Pellucid Corp., a Buffalo Grove, Ill.-based consulting firm, April saw a slight dip in Golf Playable Hours (GPH) compared to 2008. At the national level, GPH in April were off 3% compared to the same period last year.
Favorable weather trends were reported in the Western Pennsylvania, Ohio Valley, Minnesota and Mid-Continental regions, while unfavorable year-to-date trends have been seen in the inland New England, PA/NJ/NY, Great Lakes and Pacific Northwest regions. Bellweather regions such as California, Florida and the Desert Southwest have seen playability hold with normal trends, but another key region, the Southeast Coast, has seen playable hours fall off from 5-10% during the first four months of the year.
