The ISO 9001:2015 certification signifies that the Menomonee Falls, Wis.-based manufacturer of primary cooking and foodservice equipment meets the top international standard for demonstrating the ability to consistently provide products and services that meet customer and regulatory requirements. The recognition comes on the heels of the company earning Wisconsin Manufacturer of the Year honors earlier this year.
Two years ago, Alto-Shaam, the Menomonee Falls, Wis.-based manufacturer of primary cooking and commercial foodservice equipment, undertook a huge initiative to bring company processes up to speed in order to meet the increasing demands of a global economy. The initiative began with the creation of a quality management system (QMS) and included documenting processes across every department and identifying accountable owners.
The company has now announced that those efforts have successfully resulted in confirmation from an independent auditor that Alto-Shaam now complies with the requirements of the highest level of the International Standards Organization (ISO) 9001 standards. ISO 9001:2015 is an international standard that demonstrates the ability to consistently provide products and services that meet customer and regulatory requirements.
Achieving the certification was a strategic objective for Alto-Shaam, which has doubled its businesses in the past five years, and the culmination of a long and successful journey led by the company’s Quality Engineer/QMS Manager, Nick Wagner.
The certification does not mean Alto-Shaam will be resting any time soon, said President Steve Maahs. Executives, managers, and all employees will continue to seek to improve the company’s processes and procedures to provide the best value and quality for its customers.
“This is just the beginning,” said Maahs. “We will continuously improve as we strive toward the highest quality products and services for our customers. [ISO 9001:2015] helps us conduct best practices as we listen to our customers’ needs.”
Those practices, the company notes, are now in evidence daily in its brightly lit factory, where huge white boards list production goals for the day. Nearby, massive machines punch and cut thick sheets of metal, while digital screens scattered throughout workspaces keep employees updated on the team’s progress.
All of this is now an everyday aspect of being a global company operating under the standards of ISO 9001:2015 certification, Alto-Shaam says.
The ISO 9001:2015 certification was awarded just months after Alto-Shaam was named Wisconsin Manufacturer of the Year.
