The Rockford, Ill., property broke ground last week on a 9,000-sq. ft. pavilion and banquet hall with space for 300 people. Construction will run through the winter and the pavilion is expected to open on June 1, 2018.
Aldeen Golf Club in Rockford, Ill., broke ground last week on a new pavilion and banquet hall, located south of the current clubhouse, the Rockford-based MyStateline.com reported.
Along with the Aldeen Foundation, donations and Giovanni’s, the Rockford Bank & Trust has contributed $2.7 million for the project and it will hold the naming rights to the pavilion. The pavilion will cover 9,000 sq. ft., while the banquet area will hold close to 300 people. Giovanni’s will run the kitchen and banquet hall, MyStateline.com reported.
The pavilion should be a much-needed revenue generator for the Rockford Park District and the golf course with all of the events that can be held there year-round for golfers and non-golfers, MyStateline.com reported.
“We are confident that the pavilion is here to generate profit,” said Rockford Park District Executive Director Jay Sandine. “That money is going to go right back into the operations of Aldeen and get that back to a level where it used to be where we had more funding.”
“We really needed a good indoor space to hold golf outing dinners, lunches, private parties, corporate events, and weddings,” said Park District Director of Golf Services Duncan Geddes. “Golf is a very challenging business. Fee revenue is not what it was about ten, twelve years ago.”
Construction work will run through the winter and the pavilion is expected to be complete and open on June 1, 2018, MyStateline.com reported.
