Brue Capital purchased the Eagle, Colo., properties for $21 million in March. The property includes 2,655 acres, an 18-hole Tom Weiskopf-designed golf course, a 40,000-sq. ft. clubhouse with Olympic sized pool, and a tennis court.
One month after closing on Adam’s Rib Ranch, Adam’s Rib Development and Adam’s Mountain Country Club, the new ownership group has changed the name to Frost Creek.
The name pays homage to W.E. Frost, a settler on the property in 1880. Frost Creek is also the name of the creek which bisects the 2,000 acre parcel located just south of the Town of Eagle.
“We are excited to launch Frost Creek and share all that this extraordinary property and club have to offer,” said Chad Brue, the head of the Denver-based investment group which purchased Adam’s Rib. “This brand, the re-launch of membership and expanded real estate offerings are a new vision for the community. We have tremendous respect for the original developer’s vision of Adam’s Rib because he created one of the finest golf club communities in Colorado. We are equally committed to presenting this enclave to a new group of homeowners and club members.”
The original developer of Adam’s Rib Ranch, Fred Kummer, and HBE Corporation, a design-build firm who began assembling the Adam’s Rib in 1973, sold the property to the Denver-based investment group led by Brue along with Vail-based entrepreneur Dan Bennett, owner and operator of Southwest Greens of Colorado. Bennett owns and manages several golf courses in Colorado including the Cordillera Short Game course. The purchase closed on March 20, 2015.
C&RB reported on the sale at the end of March (“Adam’s Rib Ranch, Adam’s Mountain CC Sold for $21M“).
“The Eagle River Valley offers some of the most extraordinary communities and golf courses in the world,” said Bennett. “Frost Creek stands out among them as a gem that has been off the radar for years. Our intent is to illuminate the possibilities and establish a community and a club that are a source of immense pride for homeowners and members.”
The newly branded Frost Creek comprise 2,655 acres, including an 18-hole Tom Weiskopf-designed golf course, a 40,000-sq. ft. clubhouse with Olympic sized pool, a tennis court and on-property fishing rights in Brush Creek. Also included in the purchase were five new-construction spec-homes, five member cabins, 91 finished residential lots ranging from 3.6 to 9.9 acres and a working 1,553-acre ranch with water rights on Brush Creek.
“Unlike many clubs in the West, Frost Creek has the unique opportunity to be unveiled with world class golf and amenities and a membership plan reflecting current market trends,” said Garrett Simon, partner at Meriwether Companies, which is managing the golf and development for Brue Capital.
