As club managers, we have the opportunity to work in some of the most beautiful places on earth, which allows us to earn a living in a truly unique way. It’s a privilege that enables us to craft unforgettable experiences for our members and guests, touching their lives deeply and personally. It’s important for us to cherish this gift and never take it for granted.

On a journey last December, I found myself in Peru with someone who took great care of me, my tour guide Gabo, along the Inca Trail. Despite the nation’s poverty, the richness of its community and mutual care shines brightly. Here, the focus isn’t on material things like smartphones, houses, and cars, but on living in harmony with one another and the environment. The air is filled with laughter from children playing freely, and the food is as pure as it gets—directly from the earth (Pachamama), unadorned and utterly nourishing.
Wanting to show my appreciation for Gabo, whose role transcended that of just a guide on the trail to becoming a link to the land’s spirit, I decided to send a package for his soccer-star kids. I asked him what they would want, and his response—a request for vitamins—highlighted a stark and touching contrast between basic needs and our often materialistic wants.
Navigating through the barriers of customs, which required vitamins to be accompanied by a prescription, I was determined to fulfill this wish. The package I sent included not only vitamins but also soccer cleats, Messi jerseys, and other surprises—a rare treat for them. The photograph of their joyful expressions upon receiving these items spoke volumes about the joy such simple acts of kindness can bring.
In Peru, I had the pleasure of meeting Gabo’s sons, where moments filled with smiles and warm hugs transcended any language barrier. Their happiness was as vivid and heartwarming as any I have experienced.
Returning to the U.S. and my new place of work in Florida, I am reminded daily of how fortunate I am to work at Atlantic Fields, a place that mirrors the very essence of excellence and beauty. I whisper to myself each morning on the drive in: “I hope I never get used to this. I hope I realize each time how special this place is.”
As you venture out today, I hope that you, too, will carry with you this sense of never-ending appreciation for the simple yet profound experiences we get to be part of. As you head to work and drive into your beautiful clubs, I hope you too think to yourself, “I hope I never get used to this.”
