The next phase of improvement projects at the Hilton Head Island, S.C. property will center on a $2.55 million fitness center renovation and expansion that will include the addition of a grab-and-go café and infrared saunas. A second floor will be added to the existing fitness facility, expanding its total size from 2,500 to 7,300 sq. ft.
Sea Pines Country Club (SPCC) on Hilton Head Island, S.C., has announced the start of a $2.55 million fitness center renovation and expansion that will include the addition of a grab-and-go café, infrared saunas, state-of-the-art equipment and other amenities.
The project includes an addition of a second floor, increasing the size of the facility from 2,500 sq. ft. to 7,300 sq. ft. The expanded fitness center will feature a new multi-purpose room for group classes and gatherings, and a café serving up healthy fare with expansive views of the club’s tennis courts and golf practice facility’s driving range.
The facility’s locker rooms will double in size, with new offerings such as fresh lockers. Infrared saunas, the latest cardio equipment and an audio and video system will round out the improvements.
“We always strive to enhance the member experience and add value to their lifestyle pursuits,” said Robbie Ames, Sea Pines CC’s GM/COO of Sea Pines CC. “The treatment rooms and infrared saunas will help injured members with their rehabilitation programs. The new locker rooms [wlll be] more convenient for pool goers, tennis players, fitness enthusiasts and golfers, and the café will offer healthy food options that everyone will love.”
Choate Construction will manage the project, which is scheduled to begin after Labor Day.
C&RB featured Sea Pines CC as its May 2018 cover story (http://clubandresortbusiness.com/2018/05/providing-return-engagements-sea-pines-cc/), detailing the club’s completion of a $2.7 million refreshment project for its clubhouse in 2017. That project included creating an entirely new Blue Heron Pub and Grille, modernizing the club’s 24-meter outdoor pool and existing saline indoor pool, and building a brand-new children’s splash pool.
“Sea Pines Country Club was awarded an 88 percent on America’s Healthiest Club’s Health Report, making us one of the country’s healthiest private clubs,” Ames noted. “Wellness is an integral part of our lifestyle offerings, and we’re thrilled to begin this final health-focused renovation.”
Sea Pines CC was also recently awarded Distinguished Club status, a distinction held by only 179 of 3,400 private clubs in America.
Membership at Sea Pines CC is by invitation only. The private, member-only club is located within the gates of the 5,000-acre Sea Pines community on Hilton Head Island, S.C. The club features an Arnold Palmer-designed Club Course, and select memberships are offered with preferred access to the world-class courses of The Sea Pines Resort: Harbour Town Golf Links, Atlantic Dunes by Davis Love III and Heron Point by Pete Dye. Outside of golf, members also enjoy indoor and outdoor pools, eight Har-Tru clay tennis courts, a fitness center, and upscale and casual dining options.
In 2016, Sea Pines’ members approved the “Vision 2020 Facility Enhancement Plan,” which began with the clubhouse improvements in 2017 and is now continuing with the fitness center project.
